The Best Advice A Street Magician Could Have

It is unwise to presume that just because you know a few magic secrets that you are above every one's intelligence. Similarly, because a lay audience does not know those secrets, do not assume that they are not intelligent. Whilst you must make what you say and do as clear as possible, be careful never to patronise your audience. To think that you are of a superior intellect than your audience is a very unlikeable character trait and as such, your audience will respond negatively to such a display of arrogance.

Furthermore, don't presume that just because people didn't like a trick it was because they weren't clever enough to understand it. Your effect might very well be more confusing than amazing or just plain boring. Think about the trick itself and your presentation and ask yourself what you could have done differently to make it better. If in doubt, you can always ask another magician for an opinion.

In magic, the mind is led ingeniously, step by step, to defeat its own logic.
